Do the drawers slide out smoothly when they are full?
Each drawer runs on molded rails in the frame and has a recessed pull across the front, so a loaded drawer comes out level rather than tipping forward. The frame is thickened at the sides to keep the runs square as the unit fills up.
Is it only good for makeup?
Not at all. The same four levels sort jewelry and hair ties, nail polish, craft supplies, or desk stationery like pens, sticky notes, cables and batteries. On a desk the top tray becomes a pen and scissors station.
