The base of this console is a single upright disc with a round hole through the center, its whole face carved into fine flutes that radiate out from the hole like sunrays. It stands on a flat rectangular plinth and carries a thick rectangular top in the same matte finish, so the table reads as one piece of sculpture with a surface on top.
Most narrow entry tables are a thin panel balanced on four legs. This one is shallow at 11.8 in (30 cm), so a walkway stays clear, and the top is a full 1.6 in (4 cm) thick and rated to 180 lb (81.6 kg), so a heavy lamp and a stack of books are no trouble.
