Stacked layers of creamy opal glass, a broad smooth disc set over a rounded body beneath, finished with a small brushed brass fitting where the cord meets the shade. It borrows the logic of the mid century Danish pendants: the glass is shaped so that you never see the bulb, only the light.
Three shade designs are available and each has its own proportions. Design A is 30 cm (11.8 in) across and 12 cm (4.7 in) tall, the flattest of the three. Design B is 28 cm (11.0 in) across and 19 cm (7.5 in) tall, the most domed. Design C is 32 cm (12.6 in) across and 19 cm (7.5 in) tall, the widest.

Light Without the Glare

How do the three designs differ?
In proportion. Design A is 30 cm (11.8 in) across and only 12 cm (4.7 in) tall, the flattest and the most discreet. Design B is 28 cm (11.0 in) across and 19 cm (7.5 in) tall, a rounder dome. Design C is 32 cm (12.6 in) across and 19 cm (7.5 in) tall, the widest of the three. The material and the fitting are the same throughout.
Will I see the bulb from below?
No. The stacked glass layers shield the bulb from ordinary viewing angles, which is the whole point of the shape. You get an even glow off the opal glass instead of a bright point of light, so it can hang low over a table without dazzling anyone sitting there.
How much light does it give?
It uses a 5 W warm white LED and is rated for roughly 5 to 10 square meters (54 to 108 sq ft). That makes it a good fit above a breakfast table, in a hallway or beside a bed, and a good candidate for hanging in a row of two or three over a longer island.
What color is the light?
Warm white, and only warm white. Filtered through cream opal glass it comes out softer and slightly creamier than a bare warm bulb, which suits the brass hardware and reads well in the evening.
What is the shade made of?
Opal glass, with metal hardware at the fitting. Opal glass is colored through rather than painted, so the creamy tone is the material itself and it stays even as the light passes through it.
