Seating four or six

At 47 in (119 cm) across there is room for four place settings with a clear center for a serving dish, and six settings fit when you pull an extra pair of chairs in. Round tables are forgiving that way: an extra guest just narrows the gaps rather than forcing anyone into a corner.

Leave about 90 cm (35.4 in) between the edge of the top and the nearest wall or cabinet so chairs can pull back without a shuffle.

Assembly and leveling

The base bolts to the underside of the top and the instructions come in the carton. Work with the top face down on a blanket or on the packaging so the finish stays unmarked, then turn the table upright once the base is tight.

Once it is standing, wind the foot pads in or out until a level or a glass of water tells you the top is true. Recheck it after a few weeks, since a new floor covering can settle.

Care

Wipe the top with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry it straight away. Skip abrasive pads and strong solvents, and stand hot pans on a trivet rather than on the surface.

Color reads differently on a screen than it does under a real room's daylight, so expect the chocolate, brown and dark khaki tones to look a shade warmer or cooler once the table is in place.
