A hallway table that earns its place on the strength of its base: two wide V shaped tubes in powder coated steel that sweep in from either side and meet on one solid rectangular plate. It is the kind of frame people look at twice, which is a lot to ask of a table under a foot deep.
At 30 cm (11.8 in) deep it fits a corridor, an entry wall or the space behind a couch without narrowing the path past it, and the rustic brown MDF top still takes a lamp, a tray and a stack of books. Powder coating is baked on rather than painted, which is why it holds up in a hallway that actually gets used.
The load sits on a rectangular steel base plate rather than on four separate feet, which is why the table feels planted rather than perched. Set a heavy lamp and a full stack on one end and it does not shift.
Dust the steel frame and wipe the top with a soft damp cloth, then dry it. Avoid abrasive pads on the powder coated finish. Wood tones and grays can read slightly differently between screens and in daylight.

11.8 inches deep and 43.3 inches wide. It fits along a corridor, behind a couch or against the wall by the door without narrowing the path past it, and still leaves room on top for a lamp, a tray and a stack of books.

The 27.5 by 11.8 inch steel base plate keeps the whole thing planted, and it is rated to 300 pounds. Set a heavy lamp and a full stack on one end and it does not shift.
Good to know
43.3 inches long, 11.8 inches wide and 31.5 inches tall, with a steel base plate measuring 27.5 by 11.8 inches. The narrow depth is what makes it work in a hallway rather than block it.
It is rated to 300 pounds. The load sits on a rectangular steel base plate rather than on four separate feet, which is why it feels planted rather than perched.
An E1 graded MDF top on a powder coated metal frame. Powder coating is a baked on finish rather than a paint layer, so it takes the knocks that come with a busy hallway.
White, chocolate and light gray. Chocolate is the warm, wood toned option shown in most of the photographs, white lifts a dark hallway, and light gray is the quietest of the three.
Behind a sofa with a lamp on it, along an entry wall as the drop point for keys and mail, or in a corridor as the one surface that turns a passage into part of the house.
